Prayer: Lord, through the example of St. Camillus de Lellis, help me to serve with gentleness and faith. May I bring hope to the weary, comfort to the sick, and peace to all who suffer.
About St. Camillus de Lellis
St. Camillus de Lellis (1550–1614) was an Italian soldier who, after a life of gambling and pain, experienced a deep conversion. He dedicated himself to caring for the sick and founded the Order of the Ministers of the Sick (the Camillians), whose members served with the motto, “More heart in those hands.”
His compassion reshaped healthcare in his time, and his example continues to inspire those who serve in hospitals, hospice, and missions of mercy. He is now honored as the patron saint of the sick, nurses, and caregivers.
