About St. Columba
St. Columba (521–597), also known as Colum Cille, was one of Ireland’s greatest monastic founders and missionaries. Born in Donegal, he became a monk, scholar, and scribe, eventually establishing monasteries across Ireland. After a painful conflict that led to his exile, he crossed the sea to Scotland and founded the monastery of Iona — a center of prayer, learning, and evangelization for centuries. His courage, humility, and love for Scripture shaped generations of Christians and continue to inspire all who seek repentance, renewal, and holy purpose.
