Such surrender does not mean that Gerard always knew what would happen next. Rather, he trusted that obedience to God mattered more than controlling the outcome. We often ask God to bless the plans we have already made, while Gerard challenges us to ask a deeper question: What does God desire of me? About St. Gerard Majella
St. Gerard Majella was an eighteenth-century Italian Redemptorist lay brother whose short life became a remarkable witness to humility, generosity, prayer, and trust in God. He served faithfully through ordinary work, cared deeply for those in need, and remained peaceful even through false accusation and serious illness. His desire to surrender completely to God shaped every part of his life. Today, Gerard is also especially beloved as the patron saint of expectant mothers and is sought in prayer by mothers and families throughout the world.
